Spoleto

Spoleto is a small hilltown located in Umbria, less than an hour's drive from Fabriano.

Pretty Umbrian hills.

Very hilly walkways.

The famous Ponte delle Torri in the distance. The bridge was built in the 14th century to carry water to the upper part of Spoleto.

Duomo.

Close up of the Ponte delle Torri, but not that close. Don't be confused by this picture as the bridge is over 750 feet long, each tower is over 250 tall and Alex has not grown any taller.

See the guy cleaning the bridge? Scary!

Verona

On the highway between Milan and Venice lies the beautiful town of Verona, the setting for Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

One of the doors into Verona's center.

Piazza Bra. The multi-colored buildings to the left look like a mix between Venice and Portofino. To the right is the Roman Amphitheatre.

Verona's amphitheatre was built in AD 30 and is the third largest in the world.

We arrived at dusk, so you can't really tell that the arena holds 16,000 people. Alex is the tiny speck standing in front of the second lightpost from the left.

You can see the stage in the middle. They stage operas here from June-August. Too bad we're never around during the summer!

Looks like Venice, doesn't it?

Milan Duomo

They've done an incredible job cleaning the duomo. Almost done!

Halftime Entertainment

I usually don't pay attention during the breaks in Alex's games, but this is the first time I've seen a male dancer. Terrible idea, just terrible.

Snow Day!!

This is one of the few snowstorms I have witnessed in my time over here. It was worth the effort (and wet shoes) to go out and take a few action shots.

Cool blue tree.

Eerie Italian night.

Already starting to melt the next day.
